Tandem Magazine is a bi-monthly arts publication edited by Eliza Goodpasture and Isabella Fox Arias. Working in tandem, we look at contemporary and historic art from a critical and transhistorical perspective. Eliza is an art historian and writer and Isabella is a painter, designer, and writer. Together, we approach the big questions animating visual art today. All art is in conversation with the past, and so are we.

Each month, we send two long-form newsletters. In one, Isabella interviews a contemporary artist about their practice, the questions and influences guiding them, and what they’re thinking about right now. In the other, Eliza writes an essay about art history: a museum exhibition, an artist, a critical moment, a connection between the past and the present.

We hope these two missives complement each other, fostering thoughtful exchange between the old and the new.

We also send one monthly bulletin with our own inspirations: things we’ve seen, heard, read, eaten, thought about, or otherwise consumed or mulled over this month.
